Terms of Service

Last updated: April 29, 2026

Welcome

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of Atlas Prep. By creating an account or otherwise using Atlas Prep, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Plain-English version:Atlas Prep is an AI coaching tool, not a guarantee of admission. The work you upload is yours and stays yours. Don't use Atlas Prep to fabricate credentials or violate your school's academic-honesty rules. Don't use the service if you're under 13.

Who can use Atlas Prep

Atlas Prep is for individuals aged 13 and older. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to create an account and use the service. By using Atlas Prep, you represent that you meet these eligibility requirements.

Your account

Atlas Prep accounts are tied to the email address you provide when you sign in. We use lightweight email-link authentication (no password required); your profile is linked to that email and follows you across devices and browsers when you sign back in with the same address.

You can also try Atlas Prep without an account through our demo entry point. Anonymous demo profiles live in your browser's local storage only — they do not sync between devices, and they will reset if you clear browser storage. Demo data is sample data, not your real profile, and is not portable to a real account.

You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account. Don't share your sign-in link with anyone you wouldn't want to read your essays.

What Atlas Prep is — and isn’t

Atlas Prep generates AI-assisted coaching across essays, standardized testing, college list-building, financial aid, activities, admissions strategy, and interview practice. The coaching is informed by the profile information you provide and by the structured signals our agents write back to your profile.

Atlas Prep is not a guarantee of admission to any college, a substitute for a licensed counselor, a replacement for your school counselor, a tax or financial advisor, or a legal advisor. AI-generated content can be wrong, missing important context, or stale. Treat every Atlas Prep output as a starting point — verify anything that matters before you act on it.

Your content and your work

You retain ownership of everything you upload to Atlas Prep (essay drafts, profile data, activity descriptions, free-text responses, etc.). By uploading, you grant Atlas Prep a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process that content for the sole purpose of operating the service for you and your authorized parent-share viewers.

You represent that you have the right to upload everything you upload. Don't paste essays or other text written by other people without permission. Don't paste content covered by someone else's privacy obligations (e.g., a counselor letter you don't have rights to share).

Academic honesty

Atlas Prep is a coaching tool. Many colleges, schools, and scholarship programs have specific rules about how AI can be used in your application. You are responsible for knowing the rules of every program you apply to and following them.

You agree not to use Atlas Prep to:

  • Fabricate experiences, awards, accomplishments, or credentials that you do not actually have.
  • Submit AI-generated text as if it were entirely your own writing in contexts where doing so is prohibited.
  • Misrepresent your background, identity, or eligibility for any program.
  • Cheat on standardized tests or proctored assessments.

Atlas Prep's essay agent is designed to coach voice and structure, not to write your essays for you. We may decline to provide outputs we believe are being used to violate these rules.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access, scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service or its underlying infrastructure.
  • Use Atlas Prep to harass, abuse, or harm any person, or to generate content that does so.
  • Submit content that is illegal, defamatory, or violates any third party's rights.
  • Use Atlas Prep on behalf of someone else without their knowledge.
  • Use bots or automation to drive interactions through the service.

Service changes and termination

Atlas Prep is in active development. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may also suspend or terminate your access to the service if you violate these Terms or if we believe doing so is necessary to protect the service or other users.

You can stop using Atlas Prep at any time. To delete your account and the data tied to it, see the Privacy Policy.

Pricing, billing, and cancellation

Atlas Prep offers a free tier and several paid tiers. The current paid tiers are Student Premium, Counselor Client (for private counseling practices), and Institutional (for schools). Pricing for each tier is published on the pricing page and may be updated with reasonable notice.

Billing. Student Premium is available either as a monthly or annual subscription, billed in advance at the start of each cycle. Counselor & Practice tiers are billed monthly or annually, also in advance. School / District tiers are billed annually under a separate written agreement signed at onboarding.

Cancellation. You can cancel a paid subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you keep access through the end of the period you've paid for, and we don't bill you for the next cycle. Annual prepayments are not refundable for partial cycles, but you keep access for the full year you paid for. If you cancel within the first 14 days of an annual subscription and have not used the platform meaningfully, we will issue a refund on request.

Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will email you in advance of an annual renewal so you have time to decide.

Additional terms for institutional and counselor tiers

The Counselor Client, Site License, Partnership, and Pilot Cohort tiers are governed by a separate written agreement signed at onboarding (a Master Services Agreement, with a Data Processing Agreement attached where the buyer is a school or otherwise required). Where the separate agreement conflicts with these Terms, the separate agreement controls for that buyer.

For Counselor Client, the counselor is the contracting party and is responsible for inviting their students onto the platform. The students themselves are bound by these Terms as end users; the counselor is bound by both these Terms and the separate agreement.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is"

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Atlas Prep and its operators disclaim all warranties — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or trade usage.

We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted or error-free, or produce admission outcomes, academic outcomes, or financial outcomes.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Atlas Prep and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of admission opportunities, scholarship opportunities, profits, or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or related to your use of the service.

Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100).

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Who operates Atlas Prep

Atlas Prep is currently operated by its founders as a pre-incorporation venture. Once Atlas Prep is incorporated, these Terms will be assigned to the resulting legal entity, and this section will be updated to name it. Until then, all obligations described in these Terms — including the liability cap above — are made personally by the founders operating the service.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms over time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated in-app. Continued use of Atlas Prep after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
